Fast Response to Abscess Pain and Infection Control
If you are experiencing extreme pain in the mouth, coupled with a fever, bad taste in your mouth and swollen gums, you may have an abscessed tooth. The problem has likely occurred from bacteria growing in the tissue surrounding a dead tooth. As a bacterial infection, pain can be excruciating and will lead to serious matters if not treated immediately. The most immediate concern is to get the infection under control. This will not only keep the bacteria from growing, it will sooth the pain.

In the meantime, some effective pain remedies include applying warm compresses to the infected area. Also, gargling with warm salt water or an oral rinse will reduce the inflammation, while rinsing out some of the bacteria causing the problem. We can also prescribe antibiotics that will help destroy the bacteria.
Following pain relief, a diagnosis will be made by our staff to determine the cause of problem (e.g., damaged or decayed tooth, gum disease, etc.). Once confirmed, immediate preparations will be made for root canal or possibly tooth extraction, so as to avoid jawbone deterioration and other downstream problems. As an experienced prosthodontist, Dr. Sajoo will also investigate if you are a candidate for dental implants. So call us now at 954 563-0606 to see how we could quickly relieve the pain, remove the infection, and begin tooth restoration where needed.
