Veneers for Dramatic Cosmetic Makeovers

Porcelain veneers are rapidly becoming the key feature of cosmetic makeovers and the preferred restoration for teeth spaces, chips, and fractures. They are used for many of the same reasons as bonding but offer advantages in color stability and a much longer life expectancy. Made of thin shells of acrylic or porcelain, veneers bond to the front of your teeth. This new facing makes them ideal for crooked and stained teeth as well.

Preparation of the veneers is done in the first visit where we will prepare your tooth by cutting away a small amount of enamel. Due to the minimal amount of tooth reduction, it is usually not necessary to fabricate any type of temporary restoration. After manufacturing the veneer, a subsequent visit then checks for color matching. The veneer is then cemented on the face of the tooth using a light sensitive resin that is hardens under white light. As in the first session, a local anesthetic may or may not be required.

Although veneers are generally more expensive and time-consuming than bonding, they are less expensive and conserve more tooth structure when compared to crowns. They also last for several years and are very resistant to stains and chipping.

At Smiles by Design, Dr. Sajoo can place veneers routinely and design each case individually to match and enhance the characteristics of our patient's smile. The ultra-thin laminates are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to dark drinks and cigarette stains. Their strength and appearance rivals that of implants and bonding. And with Dr. Sajoo's experience in its use, you can be assured that your veneers are crafted from the highest quality porcelains and bonded with the most proven materials available. As a result, you benefit from an advanced restorative option for misshapen, discolored, gapped, undersized, worn and chipped teeth.
