Denture Rebase, Relines & Repairs for Affordable Adjustments

If you are experiencing problems with your dentures (e.g., poor fitting), but they are still in good condition, you may not require a complete replacement. Instead, a new layer of material can be placed in it. This allows the denture to be refit to any changes that might have occurred in your mouth. Broken, worn or ill-fitting dentures, in particular, can often be corrected through a rebase, reline or repair. Dr. Sajoo can assess very quickly if you a candidate for options after having your dentures rocked loose, fractured or create pockets of sore spots. And in the case of some repairs, Dr. Sajoo often offers same-day service. The goal is to get you feeling comfortable again to chew rigorously and smile without embarrassment.

Relines

Denture relining is a procedure that involves shaving away the underside of dentures and replacing them with plastic in order to ensure its proper fitting to the gums. Relines are normally required when tissue changes occur due to shrinkage from tooth loss, aging or disease. The process consists of adding new base material to the tissue side of a denture so it fits properly. In this case, Dr. Sajoo will need to take an impression inside your existing denture. An advantage of relining is that it affects only the fit of your denture and will not change the appearance.

Rebase

Rebasing is a procedure in which the denture base material is replaced by new material. It is usually done when the denture teeth have not worn out in comparison to the denture base material. In essence, Dr. Sajoo will retrofit your dentures by replacing all of the acrylic denture base with new acrylic. This provides a stable denture without replacing the denture teeth.

Repairs

If your denture is broken, chipped or cracked, Dr. Sajoo can often restore it to its original condition. The same applies for dentures faced with wear and tear or when teeth are added to an existing denture following tooth extraction. Repairs can usually be completed the same day they are brought in to us. If an impression is needed it may take a little longer. Please keep in mind, however, that if your denture requires a repair, it may be indicative of underlying problems, including age of the denture, worn teeth or poor fit. Please contact Dr. Sajoo for a free consultation on options for repairing dentures as well as on how to prevent denture breakage from occurring.
