Emergency Repairs for Unexpected Tooth Damage

If you have a broken tooth, lost a filling, or a feel a loose crown, an immediate dental visit may be crucial to long-term pain relief. Cracked and broken teeth, in particular, should be repaired as soon as possible to prevent further damage. In some cases, root canal therapy or tooth extraction may be necessary. If a crack affects the enamel and dentin of the tooth, a crown is frequently the best treatment.

IIf a crown (or cap) has become loose, we can clean the area and then replace the crown especially if the tooth is structurally sound and the crown still fits properly. While awaiting our re-cementing, denture adhesive paste, Vaseline or temporary dental cement can be found in the dental sections of your pharmacy.

If the tooth has been affected by decay, we may need to prepare the tooth again by removing the decay and then making a new filling or crown to replace the old one.

In the event that you severely cracked or broke a tooth, contact us as soon as possible to avoid high sensitivity of the fractured tooth and the painful aftermath from an infected nerve. In some cases, pieces of the broken tooth can be temporarily cemented.
